Human Rights Discrimination

1. Write 5 key words that focus on Human Rights...

- Discrimination
-
Harrassment/Sexual
- Equality
- Progessive
- The right to freely express your views

Each of us is entitled to have our basic human rights respected, but equally, we must respect the rights of others. Human rights are those rights which could be described as the most basic and fundamental values on which our society has been built; the rights we all take for granted.

Mr.Keegstra

What did Mr.Keegstra teach hir class?
Mr. Keegstra is man who used to be a history teacher at a high school. He taught his students that the Holocaust was not a terrible event and that is was exaggerated by the Jewish people. He explained to his students that the during the second world war many Jewish people emigrated to many different countries and that they were not in fact killed in the concentration camps.

What was the crime?
Mr. Keegstra was taken to court and charged under the criminal code with unlawfully promoting the hatred against an identifiable group. Keegstra argued that this was violating (freedom of expression) of the Charter of Rights and Freedoms.

What secton of the charter was used to challenge his criminal conviclion?
I agree with the supreme court ruling because this man had no right or means to teach hate to his students about this race of people. He was mainly teaching his students how to discriminate.

- "depends", because if children disobey the law, 'yes' they shouldnt go to court, or jail, but the parents should be the ones responible for their childrens actions.

STV's

1. What is the STV system?
STV means, Single Transforable Vote, which is a system of perferential voting designed to minimize wasted votes and provide proportional representation while ensuring that votes are explicitly expressed for individual candidates rather than for party lists.
2. Explain the May 2009 referendurn on STV.

3. Do you like the STV? Explain 3 reasons why or why not.
No, because when a canditdate has been elected, and still has votes, STV will transfor the rest of the votes to the other canditdates so they can be elected as well.

Politcial Spectrum

Do you support LW, C, or RW political idealogy? 3 reasons why?
-The Left Wing is what i would have to say that i support because even though communism doesnt have a priavte land/business, the soicalism has more peaceful moderate in the country.
- In the 1930s - 40s they didnt have fascit like Hitler (Germany) and Mussolin (Italy).
- Also another reason why i support this category is cause its not too extreme like the categorys (centre and right wing).
